What unit are work and energy measured in?

How are they different from each other?

What does it take for an object to have Kinetic Energy?

What is more important in finding an object's Kinetic Energy, its mass or its velocity?

If something doubles its speed, its KE increases how much?

Just by knowing a car's speed, we can pretty accurately prdeict its stopping distance.  When the car stops, where does its KE go?

If you raise an object up to a certain height, what type of energy are you giving it?

If a pendulum is raised up and released (like a kid on a swing), describe what types of energy are involved, and how they change.

Friction is often considered a negative phenomenon.  When friction acts, what is happening to energy?

Give an example of friction being a positive thing.

Make a table with 2 columns.  In one column, list all the types of energy that you can think of.  In the other column, give an example that shows each type.

Set up a sample problem that shows how to find the cost of leaving an appliance on for a few hours.  You can make up #'s for the wattage, KwH price, and time.

Set up a sample problem that shows how to find the time something was on.  Like the previous problem, you make make up #'s for the other quantitites.

List 3 energy sources we use.

What are some of the problems with producing and using energy?

Specifically, list 3 problems with using fossil fuels.

Write a paragraph (2 or 3 sentences) that tells what you think the future holds concerning energy production.

The tokomak is a funky machine.  It is trying to copy something.  What?

List 3 renewable energy sources.

Of the three you listed, pick one and tell why it WONT ever be hugely useful.

Is it possible that there is an energy source that no one has even thought of or discovered yet?  Think for a minute and make your own guess at a possible new source of energy.
